About
Elena Mattioli, born in Modena on February 28th, 1983, from January 2012 is PhD. Student in Sociology, at the Graduate School of Political and Social Sciences, University of Bologna - Series XXVII, tutor prof. Paolo Zurla.
The main areas of study concern the analysis of disadvantaged people’s social exclusion processes, in particular homeless people, elderly and young people.
She graduated in 2008 cum laude in Sociology of health and lifestyles, at the Faculty of Political Science "R.Ruffilli" (University of Bologna, Forlì), with a thesis in Social Policy, entitled "The role of peer operators between empowerment and acknowledgment"(supervisor Prof. Paolo Zurla). From July 2010 to June 2011 has benefited from a professionalizing research grant at the Scientific-educational Pole of Forlì, University of Bologna, titled "Young, socio-economic conditions and expectations of well-being. Practices and representations". For this research, she deepened her knowledge of problematic issues related to youth and labor market, focusing the attention on new groups of the youth population considered at high risk of social exclusion, i.e. the so-called “Neet”.
During the academic year 2010-2011 she has been tutor of the course “Laboratory of Applied Criminology to Security”, supporting the organization of teaching and holding some seminars on safety issues. In the academic year 2011-2012 she is tutor in Sociology, at International and Diplomatic Sciences Degree, Faculty of Political Science "R.Ruffilli", University of Bologna - Forlì.
Finally, since 2009 she is Editorial Office Secretary of Autonomie locali e servizi sociali, a four-monthly journal published by Il Mulino (Bologna) since 1977, for which she recently has been following the indexing process of the journal in international bibliographic databases (already included in Social Services Abstracts, Sociological Abstracts, Worldwide Political Science Abstracts, the Italian magazine ACNP catalog, Google Scholar, currently being processed by Scopus).
